shittt. i'm alone at home and i'm too lazy to make maggi mee.
Just finished watching Titanic again!

I smell BBQ food:) Sarah talked to me just now about her.. erm, life. HAHA. damn funny.
Her reaction when i told her i was watching Titanic was ...

I'm watching Titanic.
You?
Yeah.
Titanic? You are watching Titanic?

So what right? hhaha.

Taken from Sis blog.

after watching it again, wow. i can see why it won 11 Academy Awards. The song 'My Heart Will Go On' was scoffed at during my time with my buddies, but it completely suits the movie - the way it's done makes even the cheesy lyrics sound credible, within the film context.
okay well. i have to say. it's AMAZING!

when you realise the amount that went into it, as well as the details. James Cameron got funding from Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox and both studios almost went bankrupt. so thank God for them that this film was an all-time hit. ;)

i was inspired by the Band that continued playing even while the ship was sinking. rmb the string quartet? The actual band had 8 musicians, and it's true that they (or at least some of them) stayed on to continue with that in the midst of the pandemonium around. It's like, total dedication to serving people, with your passion. Cos that's what's music's about.. they played to comfort the hearts of the people around them with hymns. When you know you're gonna die in a few moments, what are you gonna do?

The Soundtrack
I've never exactly been a 'fan' of James Horner before tho I know he's good. The soundtrack for Titanic is not exactly something that remains in your mind. BUT it works. It's a kind of underlying beneath the love story, and action, which is the main focus.
Interestingly enough, my favourite tunes are the one when they're boarding the ship, and the orchestral tune for My Heart Will Go On. that's just amazing. it's subtle, intimate.. playing the intro of that song.. with a repetitive piano riff.. very light. He creates a sort of dreamy, airy effect using the voice of Sissel, together with panflutes I think, with airy atmospheric pads. And the blend between voice and panflute. :) Think it's largely the brilliant sound mix, as well as the talented orchestra who brings the score to life.

(The film won Best Soundmixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score...)

An additional thing I like about the soundtrack is that as James Cameron puts it,
'The music spans time, making immediate the actions and feelings of people 85 years ago with full emotional resonance without falling into either of the two dreaded traps: the sweeping conventional period picture score, or the inappropriately modern and anachronstic "counter program" score... James has walked the tightrope by using synthesizer, vocals and full orchestra to create a timeless sound.. bridging the gap of time and making these people seem so alive, so vibrant, so real that the dreaded event, when it finally omes, is terrifying in its authenticity.

'James Cameron

This is real manz, especially after I just watched Walt Disney's The Rookie (Dennie Quaid). Well it's set in Texas, and the opening is supposed to be 100plus years ago. well. i'd say it has very Texan, country flavour. the conventional period picture score. But somehow it doesn't work so well for me; seems to make it a bit less credible.. i sorta expect to see a cowboy rodeo soon. (Howdy pardner...)

She likes to write alot more than me. All i said about the movie was it was great and exciting-.-"
okay, forget it. I'm so bored.

Racia the vampire is going to eat you up tonight!
